Republicans Betray Principles And Help Pass HR1388/S277: GIVE Act

This noxious GIVE Act Bill, which is involuntary servitude, passed the House this week with a vote of 321-105.  Last night, it passed the Senate with a vote of 79-19.  That means alot of Republicans voted for this thing.  Here are some of the things that have been included in this bill and I wonder if any of our representatives bothered to read this bill just as none of them read the Porkulus Bill:

First, they changed the name of the GIVE Act to “The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, an Act to reauthorize and reform the national service laws”.  So our new “Slavery Act” is named for Kennedy and the “Death Act” (universal healthcare) will be named for him as well.

Then Senator David Vitter introduced Amendment 705 which would prohibit ACORN from receiving funds under this Act.  The amendment was tabled meaning that ACORN will receive funds from this bill.

Then there is this kind of language which has me scratching my head: (A)(i) the number of undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate service-learning courses offered at such institution for the most recent full academic year preceding the fiscal year for which designation is sought; and (E) any programs the institution has in place to encourage or assist graduates of the institution to pursue careers in public service in the nonprofit sector or governmentservice-learning curricula, consistent with State or local academic content standards, to be integrated into academic programs, including curricula for an age-appropriate learning component that provides participants an opportunity to analyze and apply their service experiences.

(F) establishing effective outreach and dissemination of information to ensure the broadest possible participation of schools throughout the State, throughout the territory, or serving the Indian tribe involved with particular attention to schools not making adequate yearly progress for two or more consecutive years under section 1111 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965

(5) developing, as service-learning programs, civic engagement programs that promote a better understanding of–
(A) the principles of the Constitution, the heroes of United States history (including military heroes), and the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance;
(B) how the Nation’s government functions; and (C) the importance of service in the Nation’s character.

And then there is the House Amendment 49 which states:
AMENDMENT DESCRIPTION:
The amendments prohibits organizations from attempting to influence legislation; organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; and assist, promote, or deter union organizing.
AMENDMENT PURPOSE:
Amendment to prohibit organizations from attempting to influence legislation; organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; and assist, promote, or deter union organizing.

SEC. 125 (7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.  -What, no church attendance!?

So there goes the First Amendment in one fell swoop with this bill. And many Republicans are to blame. Anybody have feathers – I have the tar!  Here’s the Senate votes:

  1. What happens to you if you won’t go? Families are not going to let this happen to their children. What are these people thinking. I am sure the media will never show the truth about this because they won’t even announce it on the news now. Wait until the deaths of millions of Americans starts,…..they will get a great news FLASH!, but won’t be able to tell it. Everything they do is hidden from the public. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!

  2. This is more of the same linguistic chicanery being used to dupe the people of this nation. On the surface it may appear as a program of benevolent design and intent. Large numbers of people will fall for this. Undoubtedly, those who are fooled by it are the same ones who aren’t familiar with the lessons of recent history. They can’t correlate it with the despotic methods of youth recruitment and indoctrination used by
Pol Pot, Mao, Hitler, and Stalin (just to name a few).

Invigorate volunteerism…yeah, sure. Perhaps it isn’t mandatory in its present form but it does contain very plain and clear language which does say that serious consideration is being given to making it so.

And guess what…whether you believe it’s a good idea or not and despite the fact that once again you haven’t been consulted on its merits or its dangers, it will be shoved down your throats any damn way because it’s been decided by your responsible representatives that it is good for you. Therefore you will pay for it …with more than just your tax dollars.

You see, there’s no need to worry about how our children and grandchildren will be feeling about the impossibly huge tax debt just foisted upon them. They won’t be blaming it on the government anyway; they will be blaming you. You and your parents will be among the next set of scapegoats. They’ll be marching lock-step to the tune and tempo of enlightened absolutism.
