The saying that if Obama’s lips are moving, he is lying really seems to be true. The best evidence for this comes whenever The One is speaking about his favorite topic…wait that is himself…his second favorite topic: ObamaCare. Today, the Senate appears closer than ever to voting for ObamaCare with the needed sixty votes. Senator Lieberman has caved. So Obama gathered with his minions at the Capitol to announce how close they were, which equates to nothing more than an effort to exert pressure on the few Democrats who are not in favor of this bill. And those Democrats come from both the liberal and moderate arena.
Liberals are angry that the public option and MediCare expansion have been dropped and moderates are still unsure with federal funding for abortions still included. none of the Democrats seem to care that ObamaCare is neither supported by the American people, nor will it help the American people. But if one listens to Obama long enough, they might be convinced that this really is the greatest health reform package on planet earth…ever.
Same rhetoric, different day. “They are waiting for us to act,” Obama said. “They are counting on us to show leadership … There’s too much at stake for families who can’t pay their medical bills or see a doctor when they need to, or get the treatment they need.” This is not leadership! And frankly, the American people are looking for representation from our lawmakers, they are not leaders. The President also added, “We agree on reforms that will finally reduce the costs of health care. Families will save on their premiums. Businesses that will see their costs rise if we do nothing will save money now and in the future. This plan will strengthen Medicare and extend the life of that program. And because it gets rid of the waste and inefficiencies in our health care system, this will be the largest deficit reduction plan in over a decade. And I just want to repeat this because there’s so much misinformation about the cost issue here. You talk to every health care economist out there, and they will tell you that whatever ideas are — whatever ideas exist in terms of bending the cost curve and starting to reduce costs for families, businesses and government, those elements are in this bill. And in terms of deficits, because we keep on hearing these ads about how this is going to add to the deficit, the CBO has said that this is a deficit reduction — not a deficit increase.”
What CBO report is the President reading. When an honest and full assessment is performed on this bill, meaning nothing has been pulled out for later insertion like doctor pay from MediCare, the bill is not deficit neutral. And the reason why they are able to twist it to appear to be is because it is front loaded. We pay on this for three to four years before it starts. I do not hear the President telling people about that.
The CBO has also reported that any of the bills that have been presented do not cover millions of people, but that did not stop the Liar In Chief from saying, “Finally, we agree on reforms that will make coverage affordable for 30 million Americans who don’t have it. Every day that goes by, another 14,000 Americans lose their health care coverage.”
The awful truth behind ObamaCare will be exactly what they have told us it will be, just not forthrightly. It will be a bill, any bill. Is this what Washington has come to, just pass any old bill as long as we can claim we did something. So far the Obama administration appears to only care that they did something because it is better than doing nothing. In the case of our healthcare, it would be better if they did nothing.
News outlets have been running reports since last night that the Senate has come to an agreement to take the government option out of their version of ObamaCare. I have not believed that for a minute because of the history with this healthcare insurance reform they have been cramming down our throats. First and foremost, let us be honest. MediCare and MediCaid are a government option, so expanding those programs represents an expansion of government run healthcare. The Senate bill now expands MediCare coverage to people 55 and older. That will add millions of people to a MediCare program that stands to go bankrupt in the very near future.
The Senate plan also has a tentative new compromise that includes a private insurance arrangement that would be supervised by the same federal agency that oversees the healthcare plan that legislators receive. If you have a federal agency supervising a private arrangement (oxymoron?) that is a government run option. They really do think we are that stupid.
Nothing is set in stone and these reports are early, but we will not be fooled. Perhaps this has been released as “tentative” so that our reactions could be gauged. I warn any Republican who votes for anything coming out of the Senate in regards to healthcare, that they will be on the fast track to returning to non-governmental life. The Democrats are already gone.

Tonight Senator Reid has introduced ReidCare that comes in heftier than PelosiCare at a whopping 2,047 pages and a cost of $849 billion. This version barely resembles the bill that came out of committee. Reid added an insurance exchange to the bill that contains the government option, which should keep Olympia Snowe from voting for the bill if she is a woman of her word. She is a RINO, so I doubt it. The bill also contains the abortion funding, although Reid has cloaked it in an unusual way. This bill offers a side-by-side option that allows the individual to choose whether they want abortion coverage or not. Meaning that the government will still be funding abortions with tax payer dollars. The MediCare cuts exist in this bill as well as the income tax increases on the wealthy. Supposedly, the CBO will be announcing that ReidCare will reduce deficits by $127 billion. This analysis does not include the MediCare funding cuts to doctors though that will have to be made up with tax dollars. Or we could just not pay the doctors and see how quickly they retire. This also does not take into account that no entitlement program has ever cut deficits and usually ends up costing 200 times initial estimates. But why bother with details…
Senator Reid said tonight during the announcement, “Tonight begins the last leg of this journey.” Yesterday, Reid claimed that this bill would be the best of all the bills we have seen and that if we are not “impressed, we should be.”
I am not impressed. Obama welcomed Reid’s action, saying, “Today, thanks to the Senate’s hard work, we’re closer than ever to enacting solutions to these problems. I look forward to working with the Senate and House to get a finished bill to my desk as soon as possible.”
Senator Mitch McConnell’s response was, “The bill has been behind closed doors for weeks. Now, it’s America’s turn, and this will not be a short debate. Higher premiums, tax increases and Medicare cuts to pay for more government. The American people know that is not reform.”
A vote on whether to start debate on the bill is expected to come before the week ends and then the Senate breaks for Thanksgiving. This means we have work to do over the Thanksgiving break making sure that ReidCare never comes to a vote and if it does, that it fails. We cannot allow these socialist elitist pigs to foist this on our country! I am sorry for my verbage, but I am done with these people. Damn near all of them. Did anybody else notice that the Repubs gave up the ghost on Judge Hamilton who believes that judges can amend the Constitution from the bench and that he thinks the Founding Fathers expected that? This guy will be one seat away from the Supreme Court and the lily-livered GOP gave up. Stand up you fools! Are we the only ones who care out here? You can be just as gone in 2010 as the Dems.
Our government is trying to convince everyone that H1N1 is a huge threat to all of us and that we all need to be getting vaccinated. They have emphasized that pregnant women, children and the elderly need to be vaccinated and will be vaccinated first. If you have a pre-existing health condition that would increase your risks if you contract H1N1, then you are also heavily encouraged to get vaccinated. Unfortunately, the government is running the H1N1 vaccination program like they run everything else – very poorly. Thus, there are very few vaccine shots available. This has lead to…wait for it…rationing.
I heard a story on the radio of a man who wrote Rush Limbaugh that he has a medical condition that required his need for an H1N1 shot according to his doctor. There was a problem; however, because his doctor only had three shots available and so this gentleman was going to have to go through the system to get permission to get the shot. It turns out that the man was too old and sick to be given the shot and that this county was focusing on pregnant women.
I would have thought that story was either preposterous or isolated if it were not for my personal experience. My seventy-something mother-in-law has emphysema. While she was visiting a couple of weeks ago, I attempted to find a place where she could get a shot. Shots here in my area were only being given to pregnant women. She figured when she got home to her doctor she would easily be given a shot. After all, her doctor is out of National Jewish, which is the premiere lung hospital in the country. Guess what? She was denied a shot because of her age. They are only giving shots to younger people.
Now I do not know if this is happening in states across this country, but obviously it is happening in several cities. And this all lends credence to the fears that elderly people have been expressing at townhalls about rationed heathcare for them and to the death panels that liberals are trying to convince us are just figments of Sarah Palin’s imagination. The truth is that ObamaCare will lead to rationing beyond a doubt and common sense tells everyone that it is the aged and sick who will be pushed aside because they will not be “worth” it.
I have an inside view to the manipulations of the unions in relations to their membership because my partner receives the IAM Journal. The IAM is the AFL-CIO, which is SEIU. They are all one in the same. This quarter’s publication is all about the ObamaCare debate and obviously is very one-sided on the issue. We have all seen media coverage – at least on FOX News – of the antics of the unions at townhalls and ObamaCare rallies. Here is the picture included with this publication:
Wow, look at all the homemade signs these people brought out. Okay, so maybe the organizers of the event provided some signs. Grassroots groups do that occasionally. (Of course, the last time a grassroots group provided me a sign it was a paper plate stapled to a popsicle stick…) Which organization provided the signs? This picture is small, but the top of the blue signs read, “SEIU Change That Works.” There’s that Obama change for you. I really do love the homemade signs that were brought though, particularly the one that claims healthcare that is accessible, affordable and adequate is a civil right. That’s why healthcare coverage is included in the Bill of Rights…wait a minute… And then there is the sign reading “Healthcare for Grandkids.” How lovely. I wonder if grandpa realizes the bill this ObamaCare will burden his grandkids with and I wonder if he knows what sCHIP is all about.
People are wearing pins as well. The guy in the front has one that reads “Free Choice”. ObamaCare will sure provide that as it creates the government monopoly that will become a single payer system.
I wonder if these well-informed union people realize a glaring truth in the House Bill that recently passed. I wonder if the union leadership realize it as well. Cadillac health insurance plans will be taxed across the board to pay for ObamaCare. Cadillac plans are only purchased by the rich, right? Oh no. The definition of a Cadillac plan is a plan that includes dental and vision insurance and prescription drug coverage. Most middle class workers who are members of unions have Cadillac plans. I know we do in this middle class union home. (Yes, I gagged on that “union home” part.)
The article in the IAM Journal states that “Others – like the right-wing media (read FOX News), GOP politicians and the insurance lobbyists who line their pockets – want the American people to believe the system works fine as it is.” What a lie! Who has said that? Everyone has claimed we need reform, but not the type of “reform” ObamaCare is bringing. And then there is this gem – mind you this is coming from unions who finance Democrats heavily and are behind the scenes we have witnessed and experienced in person at townhalls and rallies – “They’ve resorted to their same evil, skin-crawling tactics sure to strike fear in the American public. They’ve hijacked community centers, high school gymnasiums and stadiums across the country – with lies of ‘death panels’…’socialized medicine’…and ‘rationed care’ – and turned them into everything short of knock-down-drag-out fighting rings.”
Bwahahahahaha!!! Hmm…pretty sure those were SEIU guys beating up the black conservative in St. Louis. And who was that guy that bit the finger off the elderly gentleman at a rally…oh yeah SEIU! And who are the people who show up to Democrat townhalls and are given most of the seats – SEIU and AFL-CIO. And who is trying to brainwash their union members into thinking that they need to destroy the perfectly good plans they all already have to make sure that 20+ million uninsured people are required to buy insurance or go to jail? That would be the unions!
These fools running Congress have no idea what they have just unleashed on this country. Several Democrat leaders extolled the wonders encased inside the ObamaCare Bill that just passed the House this evening. I find myself wondering what exactly they are referring to. Could it be the unconstitutional individual mandate that will fine and jail people for not purchasing health insurance? Or is it the part that prevents people from purchasing private insurance after 2013? How about the $1.2 trillion price tag? Or is it the funding of veterinarian education? The huge cuts to Medicare and dismantling of Medicare Advantage perhaps? The soon to come rationing and control of our bodies by the government maybe? No, I’m sure it is the 111 new bureaucracies this bill sets up.
The House passed the bill in a 220-215 vote. One Republican RINO joined the ranks of the Democrats to give PlastiGirl the ability to claim that the bill is bi-partisan and that was Joseph Cao from Louisiana. Thirty-nine Democrats stood for some principles and voted against the bill. It is believed that the “magic bullet” that helped get the bill passed was the passage of Rep. Bart Stupak’s (D-Mich.) amendment, which barred plans that cover abortion from receiving federal subsidies. This helped convince some Blue Dog Democrats to vote “yes”.
On a day that we commemorate the fall of the Iron Curtain, we just watched the House begin building one here in America. This is a sad day indeed for America.
Today, 75,000 American citizens protested in Washington DC against the House’s new version of the ObamaCare Bill that they plan to vote on this weekend. The event started with a rally on the Capitol steps and then the protesters entered the Capitol to confront their representatives in person and expressed their desire to have this piece of crap go down in flames. Several protesters were rewarded by being arrested at the request of their representatives. So much for our freedom to assemble, particularly when this assembly took place in the People’s House.
At Joe Lieberman’s office, nine protesters were arrested after conducting a sit-in. Apparently, twenty protesters marched into the senator’s office in the morning and demanded to speak with him and their requests were denied. My former stomping grounds of Colorado has graced DC with another representative who saw fit to have his constituents arrested. Democrat Michael Bennet had the Capitol Police arrest protesters who showed up at the office at 10 am for unlawful entry. And a crowd outside of Nancy PlastiGirl Pelosi’s office who were singing “God Bless America” and chanting “Kill the Bill” were arrested for unlawful entry and unlawful conduct in the hallway.
What a sad day in America to realize that those sworn to protect the Constitution not only completely ignore it, but work to destroy it.
Today, a reporter asked the White House Spokesmoron Robert Gibbs whether White House lawyers had reviewed the individual mandate that is present in both the Senate and House’s healthcare bills. Gibbs responds to the question was, “Not that I know of. I don’t think it has gotten to the point where anybody questions the legitimacy of it.” What?! He does not think this has gotten to the point where anybody is questioning the legitimacy?! Now I know the White House, including this dim bulb, has spent much of the summer maligning protestors at tea parties and questioners at town halls, so we know they know that people are questioning ObamaCare. And specifically questioning how ObamaCare fits into the Constitution.
Senator Orrin Hatch is on his way out of the Senate if We The People are successful, but he did make some great points in reference as to whether forcing Americans to buy health insurance is Constitutional. He said, “But here would be the first time where our government would demand that people buy something that they may or may not want. And, you know, if that’s the case, then we didn’t need a ‘Cash for Clunkers,’ all we had to do is have the federal government say you all got to buy new cars, no matter how tough it is on you. You know, they could require you to buy anything. And that isn’t America. That’s not freedom. That’s not constitutionally sound. Now, there may be some gimmicky way that they can do this, but I can’t think of a gimmicky way that would be constitutionally justified.”
The reporter who was questioning Gibbs continued by asking, “Well, Orin Hatch questions the legitimacy of it.”
Gibbs responded, “Well, you should ask him.”
The reporter then asked, “Do you not feel there is any concern at all about whether it is constitutional for Congress to impose a mandate?”
“No,” Gibbs answered.
If not for the months and months of the Obama administration demonstrating that they do not care about the Constitution, nor what Americans want from their government, I would have found this dialogue between the Spokesmoron and the reporter unbelievable. It does not matter what the Birthers claim about Obama and whether he can or cannot present a birth certificate. He is illegitimate as a President for his betrayal of the oath of office and his sincere disregard for Constitutional principles – our founding principles.
Halloween is Saturday and the House of Representatives has contributed to the fright fest by unveiling their new and improved – GAG – healthcare bill. PlastiGirl announced the bill before an invite-only group of people and no, that was not a mask, that is her real face. House Democrats blocked the public from attending the unveiling ceremony and allowed only special guests that included Hill staffers, union workers, healthcare providers and students. The bill weighed in at a terrifying 1,990 pages and 400,000 words. And the idea of reading the following passages from the bill is truly horrifying:
“(a) Outpatient Hospitals – (1) In General – Section 1833(t)(3)(C)(iv) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395(t)(3)(C)(iv)) is amended – (A) in the first sentence – (i) by inserting “(which is subject to the productivity adjustment described in subclause (II) of such section)” after “1886(b)(3)(B)(iii); and (ii) by inserting “(but not below 0)” after “reduced”; and (B) in the second sentence, by inserting “and which is subject, beginning with 2010 to the productivity adjustment described in section 1886(b)(3)(B)(iii)(II)”.
It is alarming to think that it could easily take a week for lawmakers to read through this bill and that most of them will not bother. And they only have a week to read it because PlastiGirl wants to vote on this freakish bill next week. Words like “taxes” and “death” are all over this bill, which is bloodcurdling to a middle class business owner like myself who knows that those taxes will fall to me eventually. We do not have enough filthy, evil rich people to pay for this monstrosity. The CBO said this bill will cost $1.055 trillion, but have some of that cost offset by fines on businesses and individuals who do not buy insurance coverage. Are people paying attention to this? This is more frightening than the movie “Paranormal Activity”. The government will mandate what you have to do in your private life and punish you for not doing it.
Despite months of outcry from the public that we do not want government-controlled healthcare and sinking poll numbers, Senator Harry Reid has decided to go forward with the public option with a state opt out feature. He has decided that the trigger idea that is supported by Republican Olympia Snowe will not be a part of the plan crafted by the Senate.
Reid claimed that this is the “fairest way to go” and that “we are going to have to move forward on this.” Between 56 and 57 Senators support this idea and so Reid still does not have the votes needed to pass the measure. So we can safely assume that he is planning to pull the reconciliation process, which means he only needs 51 Senators on board. They have promised to cram this down our throats and apparently, that is exactly what they will be doing.
